On a plane, there are two parallel lines. one is y-= -2x+2, and the other has a y intercept of k and an x intercept of k/2. These two lines, along with the x axis and y axis create a trapezoid, with an area of 8. Solve for K.

Usimg y = mx+c we know the second line is m=-2 (parallel lines have the same slope) and c=k (the y intercept.)
They form two triangles of area
1/2*c*y(0)
The trapazoid area is the difference of the areas of the two triangles. so
(1/2)*k*k/2 - (1/2)*2*1 = 8
