I don't know where to start with this problem and thought maybe someone could give me a clue

solve for y:

3k-2y+4z=8

Move everything without a "y" in it to the other side of the "equals". Divide off whatever is multiplied on the "y". The result is your answer.

Eliz.

Another "general" hint:
if -2a = b
then 2a = -b
so a = -b/2

3k-2y+4z=8
if you need to solve for y , the process is to rearrange the equation to get y by itself.

so...start by moving the -2y from the left side to the right side.

3k+4z=2y +8

now move the 8 from the right to the left side
3k+4z-8=2y
then divide everything by 2, to get y by itself

(3k+4z-8)/2 = y

all the best..............
