A rectangle is formed by increasing the length of one side of a square by 2 centimeters and by increasing an adjacent side by 3 centimeters. The are of the rectangle is twice the area of the square. What were the dimensions of the original square.

I really do not like your screen name. Please don't do that to yourself. Why should anyone bother to help you with an attitude like that?

Name Stuff!!

S = Side of Original Square, in cm

S+2 cm = One Side of Rectangle
S+3 cm = Other Side of Rectangle

(S+2 cm)*(S+3 cm) = Area of Rectangle
(S)(S) = Area of Square

(S+2 cm)*(S+3 cm) = 2*(S)(S)

Can you finish?
