I am looking for help writing the inequality ... i think i can solve it on my own.....steps on how to write it would be greatily appreciated....thanks

heres the q

you plan to start your own greeting card buisness Your startup cost of buying a computer color printer and supplies is 1400. You also want to run an add for $50 for 4 weeks. You plan to sell each card for 1.79 How many cards must u sell to equal or exceed your intial costs? Write an inequality that models the situation. Then solve the inequality to find the minimum # of cards u must sell
 
Break the given data and start adding your costs.

Your start up cost is $1400.This is fixed.

You advertise for 4 weeks at $50 per week.Which means that 4 weeks of advertising will cost you 50x4 = $200

(Adding costs -->1400+200 = 1600)


You sell each card at $1.79. Which means that everytime you sell 1 card that much money goes into your pocket.

Now 100 card would bring 100x 1.79 = $179 back to you.

You have to bring in $1600.

That means 1.79S = 1600

Can you solve for S??
 
ok i solved for s and got (rounded to the nearest whole number) 899..... is that right? if so would (well anyway) is the inequality set up as ---


1600<1.79S

Since you are trying to reach 1600 from the sale of cards,your equation should be

1.79S => 1600 (greater than or equal to)
