5/12 +(-3/8)
12 and 8 -- Least Common Multiple is 24. 24 = 12*2, 24 = 8*3

(5/12)*(2/2) = 10/24

(-3/8)*(3/3) = -9/24

10/24 + (-9/29) = 10/24 - 9/24 = (10-9)/24 = 1/24

P.S. When you post your question, please note that the word is spelled "root" ("route" is something you drive on). Also, please use grouping symbols or some other formatting to clarify your meaning. For instance, does "square route 3xy (y to the 3rd power)" mean "sqrt(3)xyy3" or "sqrt(3x)yy3" or "sqrt(3xy3)" or something else? Also, please include the instructions, so the tutors can tell what you are supposed to be doing. Also, please show the steps you have tried thus far. Thank you.
