Can you help me to explain how to solve - n squared times 3 to the nth power equals 36
i don't even know how to type that?

is this what you mean?

(n^2 ) . (3^n) =36

where ^ means raised to the power......

You can use this guy (^) to signify exponents. "n squared" would be n^2.

(n^2)*(3^n)=36

Wow, I hope you are not supposed to solve this analytically. Just guess. It increases from zero (0) VERY RAPIDLY in the positive direction.

(0^2)*(3^0) = 0
(1^2)*(3^1) = 1*3 = 3
(2^2)*(3^2) = 4*9 = 36 -- Well, that was easier than I thought.

thank you for your help! i figured out the answer, but i don't know how to show the work for the teacher...is there no appropriate method? just guessing is the method? wow! Thanks, again!
