I really need some help... I can't figure this out at all. I'm really stressed out. I feel so bad- my friends all got this one in class and I was the only one that didn't know what was going on. Here it is:

(adding and subtracting algebraic terms:monomials)

6x^3-2x^3-7x^3+x^3=?

I think you have to simplify this or something...

All your x term are cubed so you have.

(6-2-7+1)x^3

Can you simplify, work out the numerical part, that's how many x^3 you have.

You can see that x^3 is part of all 4 terms, right?
So you can use anything you want for x^3, like:
6 apples - 2 apples - 7 apples + 1 apple

Also remember that x^3 is really 1x^3

Now try this one:
4x^2 - 2x^2 + 7y - y = ?
