A simplistic method would be to plug the provided numbers in for "y", and see which one works.

A longer method (but one that will work when you aren't given the answers) would be to factor the denominators, getting (3y - 1)(y - 3), (3y - 1)(3y + 1), and (3y - 1), and then multiply through by the common denominator of (3y - 1)(y - 3)(3y + 1). Then solve the resulting equation for the value(s) of y.
