I'm sorry if these don't come out correctly maybe next time I will know how to do it correctly...

-9 / -3 + 4 x -1/4 - 20 / 5
3 + -1 - 4
2 - 4 = -2

-----------------------------------------------

14 + 3[(5 - 1)(8 - 6) - 2] + 1
14 + 3[(4 x 2) - 2] + 1
14 + 3[ (8) - 2) + 1
14 + 3 x 6 + 1
14 + 18 + 1 = 33

--------------------------------------------------

1/3 [(-18 + 3) + (5 + 7) / -4
1/3 [-15 + 12 / -4]
1/3 x [-15 + -3)
1/3 x -18 = -6

----------------------------------------------------

80 x 1/2 + 35
-10 + 25

40 + 35
15

75
15

= 5

They all look good.
Your only capital crime is in using x for multiplication. Always use *
When you get to algebra 4xy won't mean 4 times y, it will mean 4 times x times y but 4*y will always mean 4 times y.

Thanks~

Thanks so much to both of you!! I read other posts on Algebra and it seems like a foreign language. I don't think I will ever understand all of it....Now I'm having trouble trying to remember the rules of negative and postive numbers...Hopefully I will finally, yes, I said finally pass the tests that I have to pass.

Hey~

I shouldn't ask this question but I'm gonna  why isn't
-5 + -3 = -8
AND if it is correct why did my teacher mark it wrong? I'm so confused!
Am I posting this in the wrong forum since it's so easy for you guys.
I feel so dumb.
