A manufacturer has daily production costs of
C = 10,000- 10 x + o.0450(x Squared)
Where C is the total cost in dollars and X is the hunber of units produced. How many units should be produced each day to yield a minimum cost?

Help me start and I'll see where I get? :?

my first answer maybe even the right one?

I got c= 9999.995 which would round to 10, 000 units? Any where close?

You've got a quadratic function here. Written in standard form (with the highest power of x first), it would look like this:

C = 0.0450x<SUP>2</SUP> - 10x + 10000

In general, a quadratic function in standard form is
y = ax<SUP>2</SUP> + bx + c

The graph of a quadratic function is a parabola; if the coefficient of x2 is positive, the parabola opens up (is U-shaped), and the minimum value of the function occurs at the vertex of the parabola.

The x-coordinate of the vertex occurs when x = -b/2a.

Use the values for "a" and "b" from your function to find x. And no, it won't come out to be 10000.

If you have trouble, please reply showing all of the work you did.
