Pythagorean Theorem

Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle if side a=6 and side b=10.

Pythagorean Theorem=a^2 + b^2=c^2
C=hypotenuse

ok so here is my work so far~

6^2+10^2=c^2
36+100=c^2
136=c^2

So that is how far I have gotten

Can anyone help me??
 
now you do the square root of 136 then you will get x=whatever you get for the answer
 
'x'?

You have c^2 = 136. What value, when squared, gives 136?

11^2 = 121
12^2 = 144

'c' is somewhwere between 11 and 12.

No need to concern ourselves with negative values. It's a triangle.

emma, are you sure b=10? CHECK to make sure; could be b=8.
 
yes i'm sure thats it so the answer I got was 11.66
but if i leave it in square root form then i got
B=2(square root)2*17
B=2(square root)34



i think that Im supposed to leave it in square root form so did I get that right???
