I hope this is the right section...

i have a few questions on deductive reasoning...

can anyone tell me what it actually means? xD i don't really get it?

and can anyone give me a mathematical example and a non-mathematical example of deductive reasoning??

Deductive reasoning is a system of reasoning that uses facts, rules, definitions, or properties to reach logical conclusions. two concepts that will help you out are the law of detachment which states I p :arrow: q is true and p is true, than q is also true. Than there is the law of Syllogism, which states that if p :arrow: q and q :arrow: r are true , than p :arrow: r is alos true. For example you have two statements:
Given:the numbers are 5 and 7
Conclusion:the sum is even.
THis statement is valid;since 5 and 7 are odd, and the law of detachment indicates that their sum is even. Hopes this answers your question
