I am a mom trying to help my son with his last problem of the night! We can't even figure out how to do this one!

Here it is:

Directions: Solve algebraically.

Problem: How many kilograms of nuts worth $5/kg should be mixed with 6kg of nuts worth $9/kg to produce a mix worth $6.50/kg?

We would appreciate any help that anyone can offer.

Thanks so much,

Gina

If x is the amount of the cheaper nuts, then the solution must satisfy
5x + 6*9 = 6.5(x + 6).
