Yik received an amount of money as a gift. She spend one-fifth of it for a new pair of shoes. She had $160.00 left. How much money was the gift?

a. $35 c. $192
b. $200 d. $240

I keep on arriving at $32.

160*1/5=32
160+32=192
192-160=32

What did I do wrong?

All you must do is solve:\(\displaystyle G - \left( {1/5} \right)G = 160\)

Ok.

\(\displaystyle G - \left( {1/5} \right)G = 160\)
\(\displaystyle 4/5G=160\)
\(\displaystyle x=200\)

Thank you. Answer choice b.
