The instructions say to translate these statements to equations.

1) 5 less than 3 times x is 25: 3(x) - 5 = 25

2) 5 more than two-thirds x is 21: 2/3x + 5 = 21

I guess I'm just getting confused. Maybe I need a break.

You are correct. But whenever typing the latter, type it as:

. . .(2/3)x + 5 = 21

...so people will not confuse it as:

. . .\(\displaystyle \L \;\frac{2}{3x}\,+\,5\.=\,21\)

Yeah, do not do too much math at once. Sometimes you need to collect yourself.
