Find the equation of line which is perpenicular to the line y= x + 1 and passes the point (1,3).

I know that I should be looking for another equation in order to graph this problem. I'm not sure where to start. If someone could point me in the right direction that would help a lot.

Thanks.

Please help.

Start by reading off the slope of the line to which yours will be perpendicular. Then find the perpendicular slope.

With the slope and the point, plug into any of the formulas they've given you (the point-slope formula might be useful), and solve for "y=" to get your line equation.

If you get stuck, please reply showing how far you have gotten in following the steps. Thank you.
