Well, I just started school thinking I would be ready for a new year of math. Turns out though that I'm a little rusty :( I'm in Algebra, and basically we just got a "simple" math packet to work through. The problem is this:

6n=2/3(5n-2)

I guess I am so used to having X's and Y's that I am having trouble arriving at the answer.

So far I have:

2/3*5/1 = 10/3

2/3*-2/1= -4/3

6n=10/3n-4/3

Now, if that looks wrong, it could be because the steps are a little fuzzy for me with these problems.

I guess I need help defining the steps. Thanks for any help you can give, it is very much appreciated. :D

6n = (2/3)(5n - 2)

multiply both sides by 3 to clear the fraction ...

18n = 2(5n - 2)

distribute the right side ...

18n = 10n - 4

subtract 10n from both sides ...

8n = -4

divide both sides by 8 ...

n = -4/8 = -1/2

Thank you so much, that helps a lot! I should have known I missed the reciprocal step.
