I am having trouble on these word problems with percentages. Can you please help me?

The final price of an item on sale for 25% off was $55.64. The sales tax rate was 6%. What was the original price?

Please show me how to solve this...
Thanks...

These are all very similar. Show us your work following the example of the first.

Thank you for your reply. Okay I have been working on these and here is my work. I realized I should take it by 75% instead of 25%.

First I take $55.64*.06=3.34, I subtract this tax, which equals $52.30.

75/100=52.30/x =

75x=5230

5230/75=69.73

The original price of the item was $69.30.
I think this is correct, please let me know if it is not.

Thank you so much for your help...I really appreciate it:)

If you are not sure, plug your answer back into the original exercise, and see if it works. Assuming the original price was $69.30, what was the sale price? How much were the taxes? What was the total? Does this match the given value?

Thank you very much...I caught my mistake...I wrote the answer down wrong it is $69.73 and it does work when I plug them all back into the original equation.
