[SPLIT] finding slope and midpoint, given two points

I am having trouble finding the midpoint and the slope. This is very confusing. Here are my questions:

1) Find the midpoint of the line segment joining points (3,7) and (-6,1)

2) Find the slope of the line that passes through each pair of points (3,-1), (-4,-1)

And could you simplify the process to find the equation of the line, both parallel and perpendicular? It is jibberish in my book.

1) To find the midpoint between two given points, plug the two given points into the Midpoint Formula.

2) To find the slope of the line through two given points, plug the two given points into the slope formula.

We really can't teach courses within this environment, so if you're needing lessons on finding line equations, try a search engine. For instance, Google returns many promising results.
