I graduated in 1979 from HS I am now enrolled in College, taking pre algebra, don't have a clue what's going on. I need help simplifying the below problem. I must show my work.

(4 - 5) divided by (-8 - 2)

Just get the order straight.

Parentheses are before subtraction and addition.

(4 - 5) / (-8 - 2)

The denominator

(4 - 5) / (-10)

The numerator

(-1) / (-10)

Now the division

1/10

That can't be simplified. It's done.
