In triangleABC, the measure of angle B is 8 degrees less than one-half the measure of angle A, and the measure of angle C is 28 degrees larger than the measure of angle A. Find the measures of the three angles of the triangle.

I know I need to solve for the measure of angle A before I can figure out the other angles, but formula do I use?

Hello, Karamom2angels!

This is a tricky one but once you know what to do it's easy.

Let \(\displaystyle a\,=\,\angle A\)

Let \(\displaystyle b\,=\,\angle B\)

Let \(\displaystyle c\,=\,\angle C\)

\(\displaystyle \L \;b\,=\,\frac{1}{2}a\,-\,8\)

\(\displaystyle \L \;c\,=\,a + 28\)

So:\(\displaystyle \L \;a\,+\,\frac{1}{2}a\,-\,8\,+a\,+28\,=\,180\)

Solve for \(\displaystyle a\) and get your values! :)
