2x-7y=3

I have a take home test and I cannot figure this one out. I keep getting fractions. I am using the elimination method but I am not getting the right answer.

Sorry, but since I GIVE take-home tests, I won't do the problem for you. But I would give my students this hint: if you substitute the answers you get back into the original equations, you should get "true statements" in both cases. If you do, you have the correct answers. If you don't, try the problem by a different method, e.g., substitution, or graphing.
BTW, there's nothing wrong with answers coming out fractions. It just makes checking the answers a bit more difficult.
