I had a test and i copied the questions and my answers so you could tell me how did i do

they ask me to match each equation with its corrsponding conic section

these were the equations and what I put

x^2+36 -------------- parabola
x+36 ==============line
Y^2 = -6x^2+36 ====== ellipse
Y^2 = -x^2+336 ========= circle
4x^2 = 9y^2+36 ======= hyperbola

another question was to find the asymptopes of the equation
4X^2-9y^2 = 36, my answer was 2,-3

thanks, i hope you tell me everything is right

What you have here is a hyperbola. Divide through by 36:

\(\displaystyle \L\\\frac{x^{2}}{3^{2}}-\frac{y^{2}}{2^{2}}=1\)

The asymptotes are given by \(\displaystyle \L\\\pm\frac{b}{a}x\)

The asymptotes, therefore, have equations:

\(\displaystyle y=\frac{2}{3}x \;\ and \;\ y=\frac{-2}{3}x\)

Is that along the lines of what you were thinking?.

Yes, very good, they appear to be Okey-doke.

For that matter, grpah them and see.
