I'm not really use to using a graphing calculator so if anyone can help me with the steps to this problem it'll be greatly appreciated.

the number of U.S military peronnel M (in thousands) on active duty for the years 1989 through 1996 is shown in the table, where t represents the time (in years), with t=0 corresponding to 1990.

charts
t -1 0 1 2
M 2130 2044 1986 1807

t 3 4 5 6
M 1705 1611 1518 1472
questions are:
a, use the regression capabilities of a graphing utility to find a cubic model for the data.
b, use a graphing utility and model to create a table of estimated values of M. compare the estimated values w/ the actual data
c, use the remainder theorem to evaluate the model for the year 2001. even though the model is relatively accurate for estimating the given data, would you use this model to predict the number of military personnel in the future? explain

It looks to me like a calculator question. Perhaps you should get used to using your graphing calculator. Look up "Linear Regression" in your manual. I suspect it will be easier than you now think.

Just a hint: You should get around -100/year.
