need help solving linear equation

Write a linear equation to predict the median age that women marry "W" for any year "t".

1970 - Men 23.2 Women 20.8
1998 - Men 26.7 Women 25

I don't understand how to solve this problem. Thanks
Robert

need help solving linear equation - part 2

This data is from the textbook -- a "article" from USA Today Snapshots. Here's what the article says:
Waiting on Weddings -- Couples are marrying later. The median age of men and women who tied the knot for the first time in 1970 and 1998: then the below graph from last post.

I need to use the information in the graph to solve the question.

HEEELLLPPPP - due on Monday. :?

They've given you two data points. Either use the "year" values as listed, or do some sort of simplification like "t = 0 stands for 1970". Then find the slope through the two given points.

Once you have the slope, use it, along with one of the original points (it doesn't matter which) to find the straight-line equation. There are various methods/formulas for this. If you get stuck, please specify the method or formula you are using.

Thank you.

Eliz.
