at the start of the year a car dealership has the follow cars:

from ford: 12 cars, 6 suvs, 3 trucks
from chevy: 2 cars, 14 suvs, 7 trucks, 9 vans
from dodge: 9 cars, 4 suvs, 14 trucks, 6 vans

express at a matrix

12 6 3 0
2 14 7 9
9 4 14 6

during janruary the dealer sold

from ford: 6 cars, 3 suv, 1 truck, 4 vans
from chevy: 1 car, 12 suvs, 5 trucks, 7 vans
from dodge: 6 cars, 2 suvs, 4 trucks, 2 vans

express sales as matrix

6 3 1 4
1 12 5 7
6 2 4 2

express the dealers final inventory

I subtracted the two and got:

6 3 2 -4
1 2 2 2
3 2 10 4

now my question is: is this question even possible? i answered it how i think it should be done but if ford has 0 vans at the start of the year how can they sell 4 of something they dont have? how can you end up with a negative inventory?

You sure the ford line is complete?

Yes that is what the question says it doesn't mention anything about vans.
