Toss two dice and add. Let A be an event of an even number and Let B be an event of a number less than 6. What are the elements of the intersection?

Draw a six-by-six grid. Label the columns with 1 through 6 (the possible outcomes on one of the dice), and label the rows the same way. Fill in the grid with the sums.

List the sums that are even. These are the elements of A.

List the sums that are 5 or less. These are the elements of B.

Copy down the duplicates. These are the elements of the intersection.

Eliz.
