How many pounds of tea costing 30 cents per pound must be added to 60 pounds of tea costing 45 cents per pound so that the mixture can be sold for 50 cents per pound at a gain of $7.00?

My attempt with variations of

(.45)(60)+.3x=.50(60+x)+7.00

have left me frustrated.

Any help at how to start will surely be appreciated.

What does "vriations" mean in this context?

WRITE DOWN clear and concise definitions.

You have the "+7.00" on the wrong side.

Thanks for directing me to put the $7.00 on the other side of the equation which works out to 20 pounds and solves the problem!

I see what you mean by "variations" being an inappropriate word to use in this context.

I see what you mean by spelling it correctly. i do have a spelling checker, really.

Did you write down your definitions?

I have been reading the word problems over several times, and trying to define mentally what they are asking, but I become confused.
I will begin writing down my definitions of these problems to help me set up an equation

Thanks again
