I am really brainstorming how to factorize this question:

(x-y)^2-x+y

so far i have only two lines, the question and this:

(x-y)^2-1(x-y)

what do i do next?

factor out what the two terms have in common ...

(x-y)[(x-y) - 1]

Good job catching the subtraction reversal! That was actually the "hard" part, and most students never "see" that.
