reject null hypothesis

if i did a test and got a t socre of 2.69 with alpha = 0.05. if i am trying to prove that boys do better on test than girls and the boys mean are larger than the girls can i just go by the mean alone to say i can reject the null hypothesis?

Well, that would depend on the definitions of the Null and Alternate Hypotheses, wouldn't it?
