1st problem:

The missing coordinate

A line goes through the origin (0,0) and the point (6,14).
The point (2,y) is also a line. Find y. Show and explain how to get exactly the coordinate for y.

They have given you two points, so find the slope.

Since one of the points gives you the y-intercept, you can then easily find the equation of the line, in slope-intercept form.

Then they give you an x-value, and ask you for the corresponding y-value, so plug the x-value into your line equation, and find the y-value.

If you get stuck, please reply showing all of your steps so far. Thank you! :D
