Hi All...

I need a solution for this.. If i get the Answer it will be helpful...

Steps for this problem is also accepteble..

Suppose that 10,12,16,19 is a sample taken from Normal population with Varience = 144. Find the probability of getting X greater then 114.5

First, compute the Sample Mean. Do that and we can talk.
 
In this case, we are given that the distribution is Normal and that the Variance is 144. What does that make the standard deviation?
 
How are variance and standard deviation related to each other?

Mean=14.25

s^2 = 144

s=12

therefore p(z>((144.5 - 14.25) / 12)

= p(z>0.02083)

plz tell me amI correct... :cry:

& help me out for the solution...

Do you inderstand what you wrote? I was just correcting your arithmetic. Fill in the corrected value, THEN attempt to answer the question. 0.02083 relates to nothing I can see.

Some r saying 14.5 is typo mistake i calculated using (14.5-14.25)/12, so got that output...p(z>0.02083)

In question it is given as probability of X greater than 114.5

If calculated through that way we will get (114.5-14.25)/12 -> 8.3541666

Is this 114.5 is printing mistake or is it correct..? is there any possibilities.. of getting a question like what is specified above...

Since im doing my correspondence coure in MCA, i have no guidence, no classes even.....
The book provided by the university is not sufficient.. Iam worried.. :(

These question is assignment that is to be sent to the university...

You are right. I just copied your typo when you used 144.5 instead of 114.5.

I think you are also right that 114.5 is just a typo. 10 standard deviations is a little silly, as a general rule.

It appears you have a clue, but this particular problem didn't help any of us very much.

If it's printed improperly, such as using 114.5 where 14.5 was intended, don't try for very long.
