Here is the two algebraic equations I have here I am stumped on.

1. 4y(y+y/2+8)=120
4y(y+y/2+8)=120
4y(3y/2+8)-120=0

This is all I have so far for the first question.

2. The sum of three consecutive even numbers is 150. Find the numbers.
How would you convert this into an algebraic equation?

This is what I put down.
50,100,150 would be three consecutive numbers is 150. You see that is why I need help for these problems right here.

Thanks,

4y(y+y/2+8)=120
4y(3y/2+8)-120=0

distribute the 4y ...
6y[sup:3qjch0ma]2[/sup:3qjch0ma] + 32y - 120 = 0
2(3y[sup:3qjch0ma]2[/sup:3qjch0ma] + 16y - 60) = 0
3y[sup:3qjch0ma]2[/sup:3qjch0ma] + 16y - 60 = 0
now use the quadratic formula to solve for y

50, 100, and 150 are not consecutive even integers.
an example ... 8, 10, and 12 are three consecutive even integers.

you are to find three consecutive even integers whose sum is 150.
let x = the first even integer
x+2 = the next even integer
x + 4 = the third consecutive even integer. set the sum these consecutive even integers equal to 150 and solve for x.
