Re: Algebra please help!!!

-2(1.5-3)=-0.5(1.5-6)??

-2(-1.5)=-0.5(-4.5)??

3=2.25?? Nope. Doesn't check.

Please show your work so we can see where you went wrong.

Hello, Aalyah!

Your error is probably with the decimal (or fraction).

\(\displaystyle \text{Solve: }\;-2(x-3)\:=\:-\frac{1}{2}(x-6)\)

Multiply both sides by -2: .\(\displaystyle 4(x-3) \:=\:x-6\)

And we have: .\(\displaystyle 4x-12 \:=\:x - 6 \quad\Rightarrow\quad 3x \:=\:6 \quad\Rightarrow\quad\boxed{x\;=\:2}\)
