Averages: find score needed for average to end up at 40

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to work out how to do this math problem all day! I was hoping someone could help me???

A cricketer has scores of 4, 29, 40, 0 and 29. Calculate the score she needs in the next innings for a mean of 40.

Do you mean what is the next score in order to get an average of 40?.

In that event:

\(\displaystyle \frac{4+29+40+0+29+x}{6}=40\)

Solve for x.
