With correct conditions, we can use the small sample test for means here. n = 20, x-bar = 12, mean = 10, s = 2. T = (x-bar - mean) / (s/sqrt(n)) is our test statistic, and T_.05 is our critical value obtained via statistical tables. we are testing H0: x-bar <= mean vs. Ha: x-bar > mean. Compare T with T_.05 to make a decision about whether NJ training is effectively raising wages.
