Do you mean 1/e then add f, or 1/(e + f)?
You mean solve for f, not F, right?
What grade are you in?

9th grade

the problem is written as follow

d=1/e+f d is equal to 1 divided by e+f

So the exercise is not written as "d = 1/e+f", but as "d = 1/(e + f)", with both of the variables included in the denominator? And do the instructions really say that you need to solve for "F"? (Since there is no "F" in the equation, you would then need to ask your instructor which of the variables "d", "e", and "f" the book actually meant. S/he will be able to figure that out by working backwards from the listed answer.)

Thank you! :D

Eliz.

Hint: assuming the darn thing is d = 1 / (e + f), and you're to solve for f:
start by multiplying both sides by (e + f); if that leaves you perplexed, see your teacher.
