part a) i'm not sure what the x is doing there...

b) my answer is yes, it is true.
My reason being that since the random numbers are generated on an open interval, so the highest of which will always be less than theta. let epsilon be equal to (theta - Y )/2 i.e. you can always place another number inbetween Yn and theta no matter how close Yn is to theta. It doesn't work in the limit of large epsilon though, but usually we do not worry about such things as the point is that epsilon gets smaller and smaller...

need help with part a!! and is b correct? =(
