Please tell us the definitions of - nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.

Look into your textbook - if none in there (unlikely - look at the index pages) - search internet.

Then we can talk about differences and examples.

Hi Comet:

Nominal (Think Name — Both words come from the same Latin root.) Names of things don't involve numbers.

Male ? Female

Single ? Married ? Registered ? Separated ? Divorced ? Surviving Spouse

Animal ? Vegetable ? Mineral ? Other

These are categories. You cannot order them; in other words, you cannot say that Female has higher value than Male, or vice versa. They are just names (think nominal).

Now, if you were unable to tell the difference between nominals and any of the other measuring scales (which all involve numbers), then I'd conclude that you never really read their definitions.

If you need references, try googling keywords: nominal ordinal interval ratio 8-)
