Could you check my work?

45 - {4 - 2y - 4(y+7)} = -4(1 + 3y) - {4 - 3(y + 2) - 2(2y - 5)}

45 - 4 + 2y + 4y - 28 = -4 - 12y - 4 +3y + 6 + 4y - 10

6y + 69 = -5y - 12

11y = -81

y = 7 4/11 (or 7.36)

Put your calculated value (the exact fractional value) into your original equation - and see if the identity holds.
