C(x) = VCx (X) + FC
(Cost)

(Profit)
P(x) = R(x) + C(x) C(x) = 35x + 1650, R(x) = 85x How many need to sell to break even

(Break Even)
R(x) = C(x)
P(x) = 0

(revenue)
R(x) =
Sales Price x (X)

Post the original problem in full ... else see an accountant

… (Profit)

P(x) = R(x) + C(x) This looks wrong. Profit is not the sum of revenue and cost.

C(x) = 35x + 1650

R(x) = 85x

How many need to sell to break even …

Profit is earned money that's left over after you pay your bills.

In other words, profit equals revenue minus costs.

P(x) = R(x) - C(x)

"Break even" means no profit and no loss. In other words, P(x) = 0.

This happens when revenue equals costs.

You've been given expressions in x for both the revenue and the costs, so set them equal to one another, and solve for x.

35x + 1650 = 85x
