How do you solve for k? Thank you for any insight you can provide.

= (k - 1) / k

you can not solve for K .
=[k-1]/k is not an equation. [K-1]/k must = something

for instance if 0=[k-1]/k multiplying both sides of the = sign by k yields
0=k-1 add k to each side
k=1 answer

but if [k-1]/k=2 then by the same operations
k-1=2k
k=-1

if [k-1]/k=1 the equivalentcy is meaningless
k-1=k
-1=0 meaningless

hope this helps
