Hello. I have to write an equation in point slope form and then convert it into Standard Form.

1. Slope : 2
Y-intercept: 5

2. Slope: 1/2
X intercept: 4

Please give me step by step instructions. Thanks in advance! :D

Please show us your work, indicating exactly where you are stuck - so that we know where to begin to help you.

I don't have any work. I need help on how to get started. All I know is that the point slope equation is y-y1 = m(x-x1)

Excellent - you know the equation to use - now we need to find the "parameters".

for #1

What is y[sub:3le9vq2u]1[/sub:3le9vq2u]?

What is x[sub:3le9vq2u]1[/sub:3le9vq2u]?

What is "m"?

for #2

What is y[sub:3le9vq2u]1[/sub:3le9vq2u]?

What is x[sub:3le9vq2u]1[/sub:3le9vq2u]?

What is "m"?

I don't know any of those answers. Please help me!
I only know that the m is 2 and one y is 5. This is only because this information was given.

for problem #1

y-intercept is given.

What is the definition of y-intercept? (look in your text book - or try Google)

With that definition in mind - what is the co-ordinate of the point of y-intercept?

Okay so for problem one, I have the slope and y intercept.
So for the equation:

y-y1 = m(x-x1)
5-y1 = 2(x-x1)

How do I figure out the other y and x and x1? Please help.

No -

your y[sub:1tzgqoix]1[/sub:1tzgqoix] = 5

Please study the definition of "intercept".

Okay. So fine.

y-y1 = m(x-x1)
y-5 = 2(x-x1)
Now, help please.

Now tell me:

what is the definition of y-intercept and

what is the co-ordinate of y-intercept.
