hi,

i have a probability question for a math review i need to do. can u tell me if i need to use permutations for it? if so, how?

here is the question: "a question on maria's social studies final exam asks her to put four historical events in order (earliest to most recent). these historical events are listed as A,B,C, and D. Maria, however, is unsure what the order is. what is maria's probability that she will get the question right if she randomly selects the order?

Since they have to be in a particular order, then there is only one way that can be correct.

There are 4!=24 ways to arrange 4 items.
