I was trying to help my grandson with some algebra and this was something I am not familiar with. The problem is:
If a*b means a-3b then solve for x so x*(2*x)=1
Thanks for helping me to understand what the question is really asking and how to solve. :?:

The star is referring to the "operation" of subtracting 3 times the second value from the first.

2*x is 2-3x
x*(2*x) is x - 3(2-3x) which is equal to 1.
Use this to now solve for x.
