Helolo, rrolo31!

cannot solve please help

x2/x-3=x2/1x3=(x2)(x3)=x3

Even with my wildest guessing, it doesn't make any sense . . .

\(\displaystyle \frac{x^2}{x}-3 \;=\;\frac{x^2}{1x^3} \;=\;(x^2)(x^3) \;=\;x^3\)

\(\displaystyle \frac{x^2}{x-3} \;=\;\frac{x^2}{1\times3} \;=\;(x^2)(x^3) \;=\;x^3\)

What is the equation ?

Looks like the student tried to label subscripts

\(\displaystyle \frac{x_2}{x-3}=\frac{x_2}{x_3}=(x_2)(x_3)=x_3\)

giving \(\displaystyle x_2=1\)

\(\displaystyle (x_3)^2=1,\quad x_3=1\quad or\quad -1\)
\(\displaystyle x=2\quad or\quad 4\)
