need help with this problem can someone help me?
"At the end of the week one, a stock had increased in value from $5.75 a share to $7.50 a share. Find the percent of increase at the end of week one to the nearest tenth of a percent.
At the end of the week two, the same stock had decreased in value from $7.50 to $5.75. Is the percent of the decrease at the end of the week two the same as the percent of increase at the end of the week one?"

Hi Lilja95,

To find the % of increase (%i), we find the amount of the increase and divide by the original price.

\(\displaystyle i= 7.50-5.75\)

\(\displaystyle i=1.75\)

\(\displaystyle \%i=\frac{1.75}{5.75}=.304=30.4\%\)

Now, going the other way, the original amount was 7.50 and decreased by 1.75 to 5.75.

This time the ratio is \(\displaystyle \frac{1.75}{7.50}=.233=23.3\%\)
