I am new to this site and I've read the "read before posting" post and I've been trying to follow it correctly. I'm reviewing for my regents exam on June, and I came up with this one problem that I'm not sure how to solve. I've tried to do it but I would certainly appreciate some kind of help anybody could give.

Joe's larger tank is completely filled with water. He takes water from it to completely fill the small tank. Determine how many cubic inches of water will remain in the larger tank.

The length of the larger tank is 30in. , its width is 12in. and height is 16in., while the smaller tanks dimension is 6 x 12 x 9 inches.

i found the area of the two and I dont know what to do next. Thanks for the help.

Hi Mark:

Did you intend to say that you've found the volume of each tank? (This exercise does not deal with area.)

If so, then subtract the smaller volume from the larger volume. That's what this exercise is asking for, the difference in volume between the two tanks.
