A multiple-choice test consists of 6 questions with each question having 3 possible answers. How many different ways are there to mark the answers?

Can you do the following probelm:

How many outcome can be there if a coin cais tossed 6 times?

Then think the similar way for - with a "three sided" coin.
 
Thanks for the attempt, but that's actually not a good comparison. I figured out that all you need to do is 3^6.
 
I am glad you figured it out - and sad that you did not like my comparison.

However, you do realize that if toss a two-sided coin 6 times - there are 2^6 outcomes (and 3 sided coins would have 3^6 outcomes ) and 6 sided dice would have 6^6 outcomes.

Understanding this similarity will help you later in solving similar problems.
