If the inequalities below are true, where x, y, and z are natural numbers, which could be the value of z?

x>5
9>y
y>z>x

a. 4
b. 7
c. 10
d. 14
e. 0

You're kidding, right?

z < y < 9

Throw out 10 and 14

z > x > 5

Throw out 0 and 4

Do you know what the symbols mean?

Combine the three inequalities: 9 > y > z > x > 5
So you can now "see" that y=8, x=6 : leaves only one possibility for z, which is 7 ; get it?
